Should Shaq Retire to save the Heat?

Should Shaq retire, so heat can use his mega salary (20millions) to buy off many player to rescue the heat?

Public Comments

  1. Yes. He is too old and getting sidelined by too many injures
  2. He's the only person halfway decent on the team and they would still have to pay him the guaranteed money
  3. I believe Shaq should give it up.
  4. Your purpose is good but Shaq should not retire. He still is the same SHAQ "when" healthy. His ego is high up there and he still wants to prove his worth. OMG! Shaq, you dont really need that much money right? Take off 75% of your salary and help your team buy more replacements for you. You are presently a BIG liability to the team. COME on Shaq...
  5. Yeah, I mean he's getting old and he can clear up some salary cap space for Miami to shop around, although Miami hates to admit it, they are going to have to go through a rebuilding phase, like when Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, and Kukoc, left the Bulls, leaving the Bulls having to rebuild, funny thing is... Bulls are still rebuilding...
  6. What are you smoking? How would his retiring save the Heat money? They still have to PAY HIM. Just because he retires, doesn't mean he doesn't get paid, thats why people sign contracts. He might work something out to get paid slightly less, but its not going to give the Heat enough money to buy more players. Anyway, the answer is no and this is a stupid question. Stay away from the basketball discussions, you know nothing about the sport. Please? And thanks.
  7. No. I have no reason, except for the fact that Shaq is just unbelievable
  8. U actually think they have a better shot at winning with Mark Blount starting at center?
  9. in case you didn't know, this is the nba. guaranteed contracts. if shaq retires, they still gotta play him unless he decides to term it. i hope he doesn't tho. who was stupid enough to give him those years? 5 years 100 million? at that age? hell no. it's their fault, they wanted to give it to him. now they gotta deal with it
  10. Whether Shaq retires or not makes no difference, they would get a HIGH draft pick next year, judging by the Heat's abysmal performance this season and select a player that might kickstart the franchise back into winning form. Kinda similar to the Spurs almost 10 rears ago when they struck gold with the #1 pick in Tim Duncan, made possible by the fact that the Admiral was injured and the Robinson-less Spurs were bottom feeders the previous season.
  11. Yes because hes no and no cause they can trade him for a better player
  12. yes but not this season maybe next season. but 8million for kwame is so much waste than 20million for shaqdaddy. i always thought that what ur payroll now is the result of ur achievement from the past.
  13. No, it's not fair for people to be placing all blame on him... There are other problems on that Miami roster like Jason Williams, Smush Parker, and Ricky Davis that are turning into ill advised pickups of the past that have come back to haunt them. J-Will has been off&on injured every year and certainly isn't the flashy player he used to be, Smush rubbed Riley the wrong way and has been inactive for months as they try to trade him, and Ricky Davis is from what I hear a very arrogant selfish player, who really doesn't fit in well with Dwayne Wade. Plus the injury to Mourning has made it harder. Am I saying he's worth the 20 Mil... of course not, but you keep him and rebuild next season and draft a young big man he can tutor to be his successor.
  14. No, Miami is where he wanted to be, plus we all know how much Shaq loves getting paid; he's still owed $40M. Let him keep playing. There's nothing wrong with him. He's doing just fine.
  15. He might as well retire and become a officer of the law like he wants to. Could always sign dennis rodman again....
  16. I think he should. Shaq's prime days are over. He has won 4 championships and had an MVP season before. Nothing else to prove anymore. Let the Heat re-build again with Wade as its centerpiece.
