Emails from overseas (England, Africa, etc.) requesting money transfers.?
I have been receiving emails from overseas (England, Africa, etc.) requesting that I transfer money. I will not only respond to these emails, but I started using the "Spam" choice to block these addresses. To me, this is illegal and unethical, and I will not respond to such an email. I would also like to report this matter to Yahoo. Please advise.

- Yahoo says they can't investigate these scams. The most effective way is to just block their addresses and mark as spam.
- You are handling it properly, i have recently been getting spam try ing to get me to download something, and have done the exact same thing, make sure you mark as spam, then block the address.
- I wouldn't respond. Even angry responses count as people who validating what these idiots do. Hit your "spam" button, but don't respond to them personally. Half the time, it's a person who has no idea their email has been hacked into anyway. I'm trying to figure out how to report a similar matter. Apparently, the US military, in the form of a certain "Capt. Brian Morgan, a US Marine Capt. serving in the 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment which Patrols the Anbar province, Iraq" needs to transfer $12.5 million stolen from one of Saddam Hussain's palaces or whatever, to me, a mom in Texas, securely and discreetly. I'm not stupid enough to do this, but I'm not a big fan of someone using the cover of the US army, and the fact that many Americans would do anything asked of the men and women over there that they were able to, for email fraud. When you hit "Spam", that reports it to Yahoo! but they don't actually do much, if anything, about it, other than keep it out of your inbox. I have no idea, yet, who to report it to, otherwise. BTW, you may want to get on google or wikipedia and look up "advance fee scams" or "nigeria 419". Apparently, these scams have been around for a long time, and have caused some pretty serious problems. And someone suggested I forward my letter on to the states district attorney's office.
