Boyfriend cant save money!?
Ok so I have been dating my boyfriend for 6+ years. We got together when we were 16. I am very good at saving money planning for future costs (buying a house, retirement, new car etc) I already own a house with my sister. I pay all my bills on time have a budget that allows me to save money each paycheck. That is something that is VERY important to me and our future. Now him on the other hand is TERRIBLE with money. He hasnt paid his school loan in like 2 months, his cell got shut off, he doesnt have a bank account anymore bc he got into debt with the bank...its only $128..but still, if he doenst pay it by the end of the month he will be sent to collections. The only bills he has are his phone,he pays $200/month bc he stays with me a lot of the time $150 for school loan and a portion of the electric bill. THATS IT! I used to try to help him with it and make him give me some money to save for him each payckeck, but then he would find it, or always ask for it. WHAT DO I DO?? I love him...but all I keep thinking about is HOW ARE WE GOING TO SAVE FOR A HOUSE? and is this how its going to be with him for the rest of our lives? Am I going to have to hide money from him so he wont spend it? I understand that some people are good with money, and some are not. But he really just doesnt even think about the future at all. What if something happenes to his car and he needs some $$ to get it fixed? He wont have it. All kinds of things like that go throug my head. It really worries me. No he doesnt do drugs or anything like that. He makes prob $1000-$1100 a month. He buys clothes, or x-box stuff. He just spent $300 on glasses. Hes just not good at budgeting his money. He got himself into trouble with the bank when he signed up for online porn (haha i know) and it would keep charging him so he got NSF fees and such. I dont care about the porn, all guys do it..but he needs to learn to pay essential bills and things BEFORE he spends money on that shit.

- what does he do with his pay cheques...you do not say if it is gambling, drugs or plain old fritter away his cheques.....anyone who fails to pay a pittance of 128 bucks is not anyone playing with a full deck....or he has a real problem with the above....get him into treatment or get rid of him if he refuses to grow up and be a man....
- First, I would suggest that you not live together, nor get married to this person, until he shows some financial responsibility. Next, you stop supporting him with HIS bills. If he whines and cries about how you don't love him, blah, blah, blah, you need to find a new boy friend.
