  1. You'll need a green card before you even think of moving there...a LOT of people want to live over there...it is very hard to get the permission though..a student visa is the best..you may have to study there to get entry.
  2. save all your money your gonna need it it depends on how much money you make to say how long it will take to save. i live in cali. what part are you moving to?
  3. you should start saving at least 10 years ago.
  4. It's less expensive to live in the dorm on campus, and college meal plans will save you money too. Living off campus will mean that you'll need money for transportation also. Save all that you can, but if I were you, I'd work on making A's in school so that you might be eligible for scholarships. Check into work-study programs at the universities that interest you.
  5. Theses all sound like questions you should be asking your parents. What you ask is also denpended on what schoo you are going to attend, as the cost is vastly different in the college you select, as is the area that you want to live in (studio apt's). Start saving NOW, look for employment 6 month before you graduate! Do some homework and ask your parents!
  6. It depends on your wages. For me I'm a high schooler attending college and a scholarship covers most of my classes, but ever since I've gotten my first job I've put half into savings just for anything. Start now and get in the habit of being thrifty. Save all you can, it can almost be fun to watch it grow!
  7. I dont quite know how your going to save the money you need. Unless you forego getting a car and saving all your money from a part time job. I would recommend at least 6000 cash. Aparments are near 1000 a month unless you get roomies, cable, internet, food, tuition***, books. If you plan on going to a 4 year you will need to structure it right. I live with a roommate and work a full time job making 3000 a month and I make it barely with 100 left to save. Cars are so expensive with gas, heating, apartment etc, good luck with that.
  8. for someone is wants to become independent u sure are asking many questions. U shouldn't be asking these things. know what u want and think about how to get it.
  9. Hi! to save money ...u got to have it! I dont suggest you start a job , as by the time u need it its already repriced. However i suggest that you determine if there are any scolarships awarded and what is reqd. to bag it. Remember, you can always borrow on an education loan later ...and who knows you just might land a perfect part time job
  10. Not sure what part of Cali you are going to, but most of Cali is expensive. To live OK you need to be making at least $2000 to $3000 a month. So I would say start working now. Save all your money. So when u come here you have bunch saved and don't need to stress out about finding work right away. If you manage to save up to $10,000, I can tell you that you are way ahead of most Californians.
  11. You better start saving now, and beg your parents to send you money when you get there. Also, consider living on campus... The cost of living in California is pretty exuberant. I know you have intentions of living by yourself but it really isn't a wise choice when you go to school. You have to think about how you're going to pay for your books and how you intend to travel around town. Not to mention all the other things you mentioned. It isn't easy to run off to another place and just magically have the money to rent your own place, unless you're an exotic dancer or a prostitute. What you need to do is find yourself a good friend there, and work out a way to have a job when you get there. It isn't all glamor and glitz... it's mainly just clamor and the sh**s! Good luck
  12. Cost.. it depends on where in Calif. Attending college and staying in a dorm is better than getting a studio. It's not cheap anywhere here. Figure your daily food expenses... if it's $5 for breakfast and/or lunch... then $10 for dinner = $450 per month (30). An average studio can cost you $800 per in the SF area if not more. For students working, it will cost you your grades besides $. You haven't added the cost for utilities, this will add up fast. Now to add transportation... a lot of the colleges will not allow vehicles for the first year students... now that you are home bound at the dorm... humm... Money... lots... you haven't purchased any books yet. And you haven't had any fun yet...
