Why is shaun pollock retiring so early?
he is only 24 for crying out loud and it's not like he can't ball anymore his balling could be a major asset to the crappy bowling of our team, and his batting is needed to provide support to the lower order... if this was baseball, he d be staying for at least another 7 years. I think that his retirement is very premature. any opinions sorry I meant 34

- 24 that must be many years back, It is better to retire at the near peak and not when one is in dumps. Or alternately he must have burnt himself out in the game .
- Must be an "old" 24...!!!
- he is 34? grahame smith will take over.,. . . . . . . . . yep Shaun is a good play and always played fair. Good allrounder. SA needs him Nel is a goose 2 more years i think untill youth come through. We can lend u tait?
- new better bowlers are coming in and shaun pollock is kinda getting left behind but he is a legend in all ways GO SHAUN!!!!!!
- To tell you the truth, I don't think his decision of retiring is that premature...I mean he's a wise man and hats off to him for choosing the right time in retiring especially in the test format...there is no better way of retiring than playing your last test on your homeground, plus I can't stand the fact that he hardly ever gets picked in the test playing XI anymore...better to play your last game then to get dropped and not play a final game at all...as for the ODI's I think it would have been bettter if he was playing for a bit longer...maybe 2 or 3 more series...In addition, he's a normal man retiring at the right time I think, not some freakin Aussie player who plays cricket until 40 or maybe so until he's almost dead...I mean sure as fans we always know there is some cricket left in him, but in the end it's his decision and he knows best because he's playing the game and we're not.
- As SA is not picking him in 11 in tests.
- no idea
- ya.....sad to know:(
- I think because of the shabby treatment he has been getting from the selectors, he has decided to retire now.
- Actually he's 33 and he's being playing on the team since he was almost 22. He's been selected on on the first team 99.99 % of the time. So he needs a break now. I would have prefered to have him on the team at least another 2 years though.
