manufacturing overseas?

Executives say that manufacturing overseas does not take jobs away from americans. That they supply the demand for what would of been lost if they had exported from the U.S. Does anyone know what implications could be had from this theory?

  1. OMG!!!! Don't get me started on this subject. This is really a sore spot with my Family. My husband has lost 2 jobs in the last 3 years.(he was in furniture manufacturing)In the area we live jobs are hard to come by. So,now he is working a job he had no experience at (he had 25+ in furniture),making $10 less an hour and no health insurance. We have struggled to keep our heads above water and keep our sanity. NAFTA SUCKS!!!!!!!!! I say limit imports and keep our jobs in the U.S.A........................... Thank you,for letting me vent!
  2. The comment is really strange. Maybe what they are saying is that if they don't send the work overseas they will not be able to compete with other people that are importing already. We had a barbeque that had patents here and was completely produced in the US. Someone had a knockoff made in China. We had to reduce our price to meet the competition. To be profitable, we had to have at least most of the product made in China. Otherwise we were losing money on every unit. Coleman was forced by Walmart to have their lanterns made in China because of competition from other units that came directly to the US from China.
