  1. why doesn't she just stay here for 2 more weeks?
  2. Why is she traveling so far away this late in her pregnancy? Has her doctor given her the okay? Many times you are restricted in your traveling during your last trimester. If I were her I wouldn't risk it.
  3. her insurance wouldn't cover an overseas birth. That is such a bad idea. If I were her I would just wait. They can't expect a passport for an infant like that, because its never even been in America.
  4. She has to do probably all of that. Baby automatically becomes a U.S citizen when she comes back. Not so smart friend though.
  5. I can't imagine she's allowed to travel that far when she's that late in her pregnancy...usually you're not allowed to travel past 34-36 weeks...and across seas? like the other answer asked, did she clear this with her doctor? as far as the passport goes, yes she will have to get one. I still have mine from when i was only a few weeks old. I was born in Stuttagart Germany but both my parents were American citizens. (dad was in the Army)...not sure how to go about it tho.
  6. Most if not all airlines and cruise ships will not allow woman to travel in their third trimester because of liability issues. However if she is a US citizen and gives birth overseas the baby can in theory claim dual citizenships in some EU (European Union) countries. However since the child will not be residing in the country she would actually have to make a formal request to register the birth. You may need to call the US Consulate in the country in order for the child to be given a US passport. The child will automatically be a US citizen through her mother's citizenship. However if the child's father is Muslim this could be very complicated because Islamic Law clearly gives the father the rights over his children. She needs to contact the state department BEFORE she travels.
  7. Its kind of kool the baby will be a legal citizen of both contrys......sorry i dont know much aboout the passports and stuff but i dont think she'll need one
  8. The hospital will give her papers to take to the courthouse/ townhall. Then, they will order her a birth certificate through that country. They will have to send her an American Birth certificate through the mail, it take a minute though. She will need a passport to come back into America. This is how they did it when I had my son in Germany, it should be the same process in France....not sure about England.
