Can A British Citizen Retire To The USA - And not work?
The US immigration website says it's impossible to live in the USA without a work permit. That makes sense. Yet I read today older British people can 'retire' to Florida who are self sufficient financially, Is that correct? If so, is there an age this starts at? E.g 70+ years old? I thought the days of 'buying' your way into the USA were long gone. E.g giving the US Government $500,000 on entry and waiting 10 years - for it back? Many Thanks for any help.

- I can tell you this about that. I use to work for a British man who was retired and had a home here in the U.S. but he could only stay for 6 months out of the year because he was not a citizen. So every time he came here he told me he had to renew his drivers license and several other things that he had to have while here. I ask him why he had to do this and he told me that since 911, the policies had changed and even though he had been coming here for many years it still applied to him also/
