Brett Favre retiring?
I know this is the basketball section but what do you guys think of Brett's retirement and his legacy in the context in macro perspective of all professional sports? I'd like to know the opinion of basketball fans on Brett. I like to know how basketball fans see and think of Brett.

- I dont buy it. untill i see his jersey hanging in lambeau i'm assuming he'll be back.
- I think Farve will go at it one more time. He is really desperate to win the title.
- As much as i respect the guy i think he is making the right choice. He is going out on a high stage and a good year. But the big picture might be bad for sports he is a living legend that was playing. This might provoke other players such as Shaq to retire on the high stage if the Suns can make it that far.
- yes because he is an old peaces of shit
- yea is sad i really wanted to see him play for one more year after the loss in the nfc championship game!..but i dont buy it i think he returns !!
- He's done it all, MVPs, Superbowls, and Pro Bowls. Favre is a great competitor and one of the most resilient athletes ever. I'm happy that he had a great final season. Some athletes to learn from him. Shaq is wearing down. He's done everything too. The big cactus needs to go into the sunset.
- i htink he should play one more, its always fun watching the guy play. he gets non green bay fans into the game rooting for him, of course unless theyre rooting for the other team.
- What up i have to admit that for all my years as a football fan -although i am quite familiar with the historic signifgance of the Packers organization that i never took an interest in them until watching Mr. Favre play. i am a Favre fan but not a Packers fan. You have to respect a person who gives his all and has shown loyalty to a franchise when he could have bailed and piggy-backed somewhere for a ring. It was great to see him go out having a MVP-like season (i mean had Brady not gone crazy with recording breaking last year- Favre would have meritted some consideration- and it was good to see considering all the nay-sayers who were saying he's too old, etc.) i think in this day of free agency and leaving for big bucks or discontentment- Brett Favre should be respected not only for his on the field achievements but for his loyalty to an organization and some of the work him and his wife do off the field with charities, etc. Hope he comes back and plays one more... even though he is retired as of today,... - no i think he will be back and get another ring
- i'm a basketball fan and a football fan, but i'll try to look at this from the lens of a basketball fan. brett favre to me personifies toughness. this is a guy who has dealt with issues off the field and injuries on the field, and he shook them all off and came to play everyday. i think a lot of people can identify with that kind of workmanlike attitude, and his willingness to roll the dice on any given play and improvise on broken plays just goes to show how much of a fighter he is. i think his legacy lies in how he was able to perform day in, day out, no matter the circumstance, and in his all-or-nothing style. it's going to be a long long time before pro sports sees another person like brett favre.
