Why did Brett Favre retire?
I thought he announced earlier on this year that he wasn't retiring, does anyone else think he had one more season left in him?
Public Comments
- he got old
- well he says hes mentally tired and he wants to enjoy his retirment.....but we have seen him "retire" 3 times atleast. expect him to be back at the latest week three when the packers need help.
- because he was old
- He didn't think he had one more season left in him, and that is all that mattered.
- Probably because he came off a really good year and realizes he can't do it again. He was Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year, led his team to the NFC Championship Game. This after a horrible season and he was crying at the end saying he may retire. He's not going out on top but he's darn close. Good time for him to leave. Packers and Favre probably won't be as good next year.
- because the dumb packers didnt go after randy moss
- He's been planning to retire for the last two or three years, but he stuck it out to try for another superbowl ring, but when he gets sacked he doesn't jump right up like he used to and unfortunantly the team doesn't appear to be shaping up any time soon (please don't boo me, this is according to my Green Bay fanatic Dad)
- He's "mentally tired" and "stressed"! Give me a f'n break. Brett i'm sure u don't know what stress is. I think your P U S S Y wipped dude. Good riddins! Sissy! rapture: your mom left her stikin shoes under my bed, will u be a sport and tell the skank to pick them up. rapture: I'm getting ready to do my second tour in Iraq while your here colecting umemployment, do u still want to test me u girl?
- Because he was Mentally Drained Got tired of all the work like study and game plan and get ready for games, he didn't want to do it anymore plus he has all the records so he will be going to Canton.
- He realized that this season was the best it was going to get, and it was time to hang up the cleats...
- Can't handle the NY Giants? I think he is just getting old.
- because he knows he cant win a superbowl with his current team.
- hes got older than dirt
- Surgio...youre diaper stain. Lets see you get chased around by 300+lb defensive linemen for 17 years and see how you feel. Shut your facehole fag. Let the man have some peace and quiet with his family. He deserves it after 17 years of great play. Thanks Brett. Youre a classy one and were fun to watch every sunday.
- He came to the realization that the Packers are a young team on the rise that will have a lot of success in the upcoming years and he knew he wouldn't be part of those plans. I think he wanted to go out on a winning note and get the team back on the winning track, which he did. He felt obligated to the team and himself to do so. He can walk out with his head held high because he will go down as one of the best quarterbacks of all time and at least he has a Super Bowl ring.
- From what I've read, a lot of factors probably played into Brett's decision to retire. He felt really worn out after last season, and wondered if he could withstand the mental and physical fatigue of another year. It's possible the Packers' brass had grown weary of waiting for Favre to make a decision about coming back, and didn't pursue him as avidly as they did in the past. Some are speculating that GB's decision not to go after Randy Moss played a part, too (though I think that's unlikely). Favre didn't announce earlier that he'd be coming back. He didn't say anything that made it sound like he wouldn't, though, and everyone assumed he'd want to see how far he could take the team next year. This was a surprise. I'm glad he left of his own accord, though.
