Best way to save money- for teens?
Okay I am 16 yrs old. I have a job, $7.50 an hour. Get paid weekly. Generally work atleast 10 hours depending when they are open. I am trying to save $2,000 as quickly as possible. My only two major spending habits are GAS $3.49 a gallon :( and food ( a little bit of groceries if we need some ) Nothing MAJOR, the most I spend is on GAS. How can I save money from my paychecks? What is the best way? I have no accounts with any banks. No bills. Live with parent.

- It's starts with setting up a budget for yourself ~ figure out out much you need (on average) for food and gas in a week, then commit yourself to depositing a fixed amount (say $50) every week in the bank. At that rate, it will take you 10 months to save $2000. However, if you can figure out ways to reduce your overhead (sack lunches, riding the bus or a bike to work), you can put a little more in a savings account each week, and reach your goal a little quicker. You might also consider picking up a mowing job in the neighborhood for even more cash ~ I have a college age son who, even though he has a job as a barista, still mows one lawn a week on Saturdays for an extra $100 a month in pocket change.
- It's really tough with gas prices going up. So what I would recommend is putting trips together. For example if you need to run to a post office go to one by your work and make it one trip. You can apply this to all your car travel try to do all your trips together. Also buy generic with groceries and use coupons you can save a ton.
