retirement oz

Should Griffey retire after this season?

Should Griffey retire after this season since he has already got to 600? I think he should stay in the game for awhile. Whats your opinion?

  1. he can get 700, but that is unlikely but he will still continue to play because it is obvious he still can, and he loves it still
  2. I don't think hes going to retire this soon. He'll go back to the Seattle Mariners for two or three seasons then he may retire after.
  3. I think until Griffey loses the desire to continue he should play on (barring injury of course). Hey if he can put up 25 homers and knock in 75-85 runs at his age why not?! If he keeps his batting average around .275 I think he will stay. Will it be for the Reds? Not sure on that one. I know his goal was to win a World Series ring like his Dad did withthe Reds. He may stay around another year because he knows that the Reds have a lot of potential to do some things in the next couple of years. So I say he stays with the Reds through 2009 then signs on with a team like the Mariners and plays a couple more years at DH.
  4. No, he loves the sport, and he still CAN play
  5. i dont think he should he could break 600
  6. I think he should stick around as long as possible. He is still a good hitter, and frequently veterans have one last outstanding year before they hang it up. Also he hasn't won a championship yet.
  7. No way he should retire. He's 38 and still plays as well as most other outfielders. He still has the sweetest swing in baseball and will continue to be able to hit. The only way he should retire is if he doesn't have the passion to play the game anymore.
  8. I really don't want him to retire. I don't think he will and that he might go somewhere else along with Adam Dunn because the Reds have been talking about that for quite some time.
  9. I don't think Griffey will retire after this season, nor do I think he should. His goal wasn't to get to 600 to begin with, so that's not an issue. He's already mentioned that he wouldn't mind retiring in Seattle, but I have a hard time believing that he won't play another 3-4 seasons, barring injury. At this point, Seattle is in a state of disarray, so I doubt he'd be wanting to go before they turn things around. Let's not forget that he is a Cincy boy, which leads me to believe that he'd rather win a championship with the Reds.
  10. i think he can play a few more seasons, and hopefully in those next few seasons he gets 700
  11. he still has a couple years left But he wont crack 660
  12. If he wants to play, he should...he may want to retire though and be with his family more...you couldn't blame him for that..he's a Hall of Famer..great career...ride into the sunset while still realtively healthy..
  13. He could play in the AL. as a DH. He doesn't need to be playing in the field any more, it's embarrasing. Between him and Adam Dunn no wonder our pitchers have had sh*t ERA's. Except Volquez who if he continues his tear should definetly be the CY Young award pitcher. But Griffey WILL go back to Seattle as well he should, play DH. and finish his career where he started. And he will have his best season there too, well atleast since he left.
  14. Nope, he has at least a few more years left, assuming he stays healhy.
