What are some great party ideas for a preteen?
I am having a birthday party in late August and need some good (cheap) ideas. There will be four of us. I live in a small town so there won't be anywhere to go. We need activities. (Original ones please) We are interested in crafts like knitting but we really like astrology. We are also into the average girl stuff. Thanks!!

- Why not a scrapbooking party? Get pics of old birthday and holidays etc and each person do a simple page or altogether do a collage.
- girl, go crazy. trust me, i tried to make it normal, didnt work!
- Best bet, get an old-fashioned comedian someone like Henny Youngman. Have some classic Jazz playing and do the knitting at the same time.
- My daughter had a party in January and it was based on America's Next Top Model. I don't know if you watch the show, but it was so much fun. I made little bags for all the girls with lip gloss, nails, body spray, nail polish, and gift certificates. The winner got the same things but better stuff. They had competitions from walking in a straight line with heels and a book on their head, made a commercial, dressed in their pajamas the fastest, applied makeup without a mirror and posed for the camera. We all had so much fun, and all the girls went home happy. They also watched a movie and ate so much popcorn and pizza they got sick. Good luck sweety, and have fun. Happy B-day
- You got me , I always took my girls roller skateing after a cookout and cake.
- If you like astrology why don't you get a quick guide to Tarot and buy them. The scrapbook idea is really good. You can make jewelry, key chains, little stuff to hang in your backpack. You can buy little canvas and paint. you can make a gypsy party, with candles and incense and read the tarot and some time before the party you make a little notebook and make it look a a book and gather information on the Internet about horoscopes and read it with your friends.
- I love the scrapbook idea! If you've got a digital camera and some photo paper, you could even have the girls over early in the day for a fun photo shoot. Then while they're all pigging out on whatever feast is available, print up the pics (maybe multiples of each if they all want the same ones). Then they can go to town scrapbooking into the night! That is, if you're feeling up to having them over into the night! Good luck! I know my mom always did well with my young-teen-life parties - even if all we did was talk about why patent leather shoes weren't allowed when she was in school ;-)
