Do you think your children will have a higher standard of living than you do today?

With the stagnant wages and higher cost of living, I have less purchasing power than I did in the 1990s. Back then I had less skills a lower level job but still was able to save and invest more money than today. My standard of living has gone down especially in the last 5 years. How about the next generation, in general will they have a higher standard of living than today or lower?

  1. If people get a new definition of "EDUCATION" in their heads, we will all have a better understanding of the world and how it works, and therefore find ways to change this crap we're in so as to provide simply a "FUTURE" for our children!
  2. nature will figure out a way.. to correct this.. there will be some boom again that will increase efficiency enormously ... like the IT boom of last 20 years...
  3. I can only hope, but the way things are looking now, I don't think so. I hope things turn around, because I have a son on the way...
  4. We are too greedy and always want bigger and better, we have got to fall flat on our faces soon. But I think that although people will think they are having it tough they will still be buying the newest games console or latest gadget.
  5. I doubt that very much.
  6. Sad to say, no! We would have to have a complete change in our political system that currently represent the wealthy and the global corporations instead of the working class in this country. Even as we suffer, the rich are making record profits in oil stock and oil futures, The working class just gets their meager pay checks that do not enable them to live off of and is getting harder and harder to do so weekly. Who did Bush help out in the housing market crisis? A 5 billion dollar bail out went to the savings and loan industry right away. Did the millions that lost their homes get a dime? The administration merely asked the loan industry to lower their rates a little if asked, so fewer people will lose their homes Think about this- the administration has already covered the home loses, and any money they get from the homeowners is just extra profit. What a sweet deal! Who will help the working poor?
  7. No. They will have to give up a far larger share of what they earn to our blossoming and growing socialist government. Also the illegals will drive down wages for everyone. And the country is becoming over populated due to out of control breeding by certain segments of the population. I'm glad I am old.
  8. We need higher paying jobs, goods and services to go down and savings to come up.That simply ain't happening.I am sorry to say my grands will have it harder than we did.
