How to keep sterilised bottles for overseas flight?

I'm flying overseas tomorrow and need to take sterilised bottles with me for feeding my 3 month old. I will fill them with water only and add the powder as required, however Im wondering how to take the bottles, as my cooler bag only fits 2 and I was under the impression that once out of the sterliser unit, they needed to be refridgerated. I do have the pre made formula, but this only comes in a carton. My main concern is how to keep the bottles sterile after I remove them from the unit ?

  1. Why don't you just get fully prepared formula in single serve bottles? Then you can just pop on a clean nipple when you need to feed and not worry about sterilization.
  2. I WOULD SUGGEST THE READY MADE FORMULA IN THE BOTTLE. MOST ARE IN A 4 OZ CONTAINER. HOPEFULLY THE FORMULA YOUR BABY TAKES HAS THOSE. THEY ARE EXPENSIVE BUT WOULD MAKE YOUR LIFE SO MUCH EASIER. AS FAR AS THE WATER BEING OUT OF THE FRIDGE, I THINK ITS FINE. WHEN WE FLY THE FLIGHT ATTENDANTS WERE GREAT ABOUT GIVING US BOTTLE WATER. (MY SONS FORMULA DOESNT COME IN READY MADE ) GOOD LUCK AND HAVE A GREAT FLIGHT
  3. I wonder if you could use the medella wipes for pumping to clean the bottles...You have to let them sit for about 10 minutes or dry before using them again. Interesting question. I like the first answer. That is a good idea.
  4. Hi, I sterilise my sons bottle but for daycare they just leave the bottles out on the bench. I too have the same routine where I sterilise bottles and fill with cooled boiled water and add formula when bub needs a feed. I think as long as they are sterilised and the water boiled it makes no difference - as long as the teat doesn't get touched etc that is the main thing because that is what goes in his mouth. Also just as a small note, my hospital said they don't sterilise bottles anymore cause kids don't get enough germs - I still sterilise though. Hope this helps.
