How do you go about having clothing made overseas?
I'm trying to start my own clothing line. I want to have custom men's clothing (polos and ties) made in the usa or overseas. Do you go through a broker or are their websites available with this information? Thanks! Any recommendations for manufacturing in the USA? Most of the manufacturer websites I've visited are pretty bad with not much helpful information. Also, would 10,000 shirts be too small of a production job to send overseas?

- Most people start with a tailor or seamstress to get a few sample pieces. You might want to look into sewing classes for yourself. (It would be less expensive for you in the long run.) I grew up sewing but took classes to do my own things.
- I have been in the fashion business for several years and, let me tell you, overseas is usually considered for large production orders. It takes a lot of work to get it done over there; it is at a much cheaper price that here in USA, but it is a challenge making sure they follow everything you say. Also, you need to pay someone who travels constantly over there to check on the production process. Defenitely, as you are starting, consider just making your custom clothing here, where you have control over the product and quantities can be small.
