retirement oz

Can you retire from the Navy if you join after 25?

I am 25 years old and shipping off to Navy boot camp this September. I know many people join the Navy in their 20's but can you easily retire from the armed forces if you join so late?

  5. All you have to do is put in 20 and hit age 55 to draw your retirement. If you put in 25, keep going, your just adding to the money you will get, especially if you make rank again.

  8. Yes you can retire, just add 20 years to your age. In some cases you will be forced to stay in a few extra years before they will let you retire, depending on your rank, but that is regardless of when you come in.
