Can Special Operations Forces BUY their service weapon from the military after they retire?

I know alot of military contractors are former Delta, SEALs, etc, so where do they get their weapons? Did they buy them from the military after they retired, or do the contractors have an internal weapons inventory and distribution system of some kind?

3. Not the exact one that you used. If you have a class III FFL (federal firearms license) you might be able to find the same brand/style.
4. NOT legally. All military weapons are strickly accounted for and not available for puchase by civilians or retirees. Most weapons are obtainable on the open market if you follow the rules. I am sure some special operation types have "stolen" weapons, but it is STUPID because you risk everything for something you can buy from a dealer.
5. SOF often have access to the latest and best. Some of their hardware may be classified. Often their use of the hardware may be classified. I've run into a guy, ex SEAL, who goes to the range a couple times a month with a .270 with a scope. He can cover a dozen shots at 100 meters with a playing card. At 50meters he can shoot the spots off a playing card. With a .45 at 25 meters he can call his shots within a couple of inches, and at 10 meters he can put a clip in the head, heart, or stomach on a silhouette target. That kind of accuracy and firepower way more than the average civilian... even hunters... can possibly ever need. Guys who join paramilitary groups can buy whatever they can afford, and can legally purchase. State laws vary. I would guess that if a paramilitary organization has contract with the Federal government, some of the state laws can be circumvented... and that their equipment might include stuff from military stores. But that is pure conjecture. As far as owning high-tech or automatic weapons for personal use, I'd guess it would be illegal.

7. No. That cannot happen. Excess/obsolete/damaged weapons are either sold to other governments or they are destroyed.
8. No they can not. The security contractors in Iraq, are issued the weapons they use, by the security companies they work for..
9. whats the point? black water and other "contractors" provide their own weapons, and vehicles. its not like one weapon is better than another, I went through 3 M4's in Iraq, and each one was right on point when I zeroed my sights correctly. Its not the weapon its the shooter
10. NO! in their career they would have had access to many weapons, and I believe access to military automatic weapons is not allowed under the law, even to ex-members of the S.F.
