retirement oz

What would you do if you won £60,000 and were due to retire in 2 years time?

I have a chance of winning 60,000 and only have 2 years left before I retire what do you think I should do.....stay on or retire early?

  1. Retire early.
  2. Stay on, and look forward to a great retirement!
  3. Look into the effect on your pension.
  4. be disappointed that it wasnt 1/2 a millionand continue working
  5. Get a good financial advisor and invest wisely.
  6. Split the difference and retire in a year.
  7. Sod the friggin work if you can afford to? FAR TOO MANY of our years are spent at DAMN work!!!
  8. you can lose a lot of interest on your pension in last 2 yrs. its why companies offer early retirement. if you like you job stick it out just take a few weeks unpaid leave.
  9. Give it all to Paul G. so he can live a better life. I'll send the contact info.
  10. buy a porsche and live a little before I/you die
  11. It would be no good chucking in your job because that would affect your pension, so I'd invest it wisely and spend the weekends counting the interest whilst remaining at work through the next 104 weeks ! ! !
  12. its only 2 years and just think you might get bored and miss it when you retire its boring at home
  13. £60,000 isn't enough to retire on, carry on working and invest the money if you get it (i note you said you had a chance - a chance isn't good enough). Half in stocks and half in the bank
  14. I had just this - but I was also made redundant at the same time. As a public sector worker I brought extra years to my pension and am living off the rest. It all depends - how much will you need in retirement, do you have debts, how's your health, how long did your parents live? This will affect your estimate of life expectancy. Because mine died early and I have a small health problem I'm not working. However after a year, I feel more able to start again. If your line of work is easy to get back into, the answers easy. Take a nice break, see if you like being retired. If not, go back to work.
  15. stay on it's only money, you'd spend most of it in two years.
  16. Stay on. Though retiring early sounds nice, you want the security, However right after retirement. It sounds like you are in for one heck of a good holiday use some of it for a good long long travel to someplace you have only dreamed of going
