Does anyone know of a good online "retirement calculator" that helps you figure out how much you need to save?

  1. CNNMoney: http://cgi.money.cnn.com/tools/retirementplanner/retirementplanner.jsp Bloomberg: http://www.bloomberg.com/invest/calculators/retire.html AARP: http://sites.stockpoint.com/aarp_rc/wm/Retirement/Retirement.asp?act=LOGIN and there are others. They all calculate a little differently. My approach is to make sure they all say I'm in good shape.
  2. www.watrustonline.com Click on "Online Tools" on the toolbar then "Online Calculators." The third header is "Retirement Calculators" You can choose from several options to help you with this question.
  3. You do not need calculators. The rule is is that you should save a percentage of your salary equal to half your age when you start. Eg. if you start at 30, you should save 15% until you retire. This includes what your employer contributes.
