Why do secondary school teachers retire early inspite of having their pension actuirily reduced?
I am surprised how often teachers and assistants say that. From my own scant experience as a volunteer I see what they mean
Public Comments
- They've had enough.
- Because of the stress in the job. I work in a primary school and that is stressful enough. I'm lucky that I enjoy it. I could never work in a secondary school with older children.
- Because the government has reduced their role to that of a glorified baby-sitter, obliged to do what little they can to instill manners in other people's feral children.
- They may be married to partners with better-paid jobs so the reduced pension may not bother them so much.
- With some of todays youngsters I would imagine they age very quickly . And somtimes health is more important than money
- For the same reason that a lot of them don't even stay in the profession long enough to earn *any* retirement. . . it's not easy putting up with some kids year after year, working a lot of evenings and weekends, and for not really all that much money by comparison.
- worn out? They did the reverse -instead of listening to their students talked a lot!
