retirement oz

Which players do you think retired too early?

I'd probably say Drew Bledsoe still had a good couple years left in him. Emmit Smith I'd say still could've had one or two more good years. Michael Irvin (but that dont really count as he suffered a career-ending injury, thanks to that one day in Phili). Oh and Terrell Davis. Can't forget him. Although, I can see why Bledsoe retired. Ever since Tom Brady replaced him, every team he went to he always got replaced.

  1. Billy Simms. lol i got thumbs down cause no one knows who he is.
  2. Barry Sanders One of the greatest runningbacks of all time.
  3. Barry Sanders Retired because the Lions would not trade him.. He had a few years left in him
  4. Ryan Leaf Mel Kiper claimed he was as good as Manning. Imagine if Leaf cried trade to NY like Eli did. We would be celebrating Ryan Leaf as the Super Bowl MVP.
  5. Barry Sanders-Hands Down the best running back in history, could juke you and make defensive players trip, my opinion would have broken every rushing record possible.
  6. Barry Sanders Tiki Barber.
  7. tiki barber. averaged 100+ rushing yard per game for the 2 years before he retired.
  8. Bledsoe didn't have a few good years left when he was drafted. I'll go with Emmit Smith or Barry Sanders.
  9. Barry Sanders & Robert Smith Terrell Davis had no choice but to retire, Drew Bledsoe may end up in Miami, i think the Tuna has a crush on him. i'd be willing to bet Brady retires too early. the 60 minutes interview led me to believe he is bored.
  10. Barry Sanders. He is the best thing that has happened to the Lions since Ford bought the team and arguably the best running back, or possibly player, in the history of the game. Explosiveness, skill, agility, vision, leadership, hands... he had it all.
  11. barry sanders and robert smith
  12. lol... i think jim brown would be the leading rusher of all time if had not retired after 8yrs!!
  13. Elway, Aikman (well Aikman got hurt but still) Sanders, Jerry Rice jk
  14. Jim Brown, 12,312 rushing yards and 15,459 combined in only a nine year career in which he never missed a game. Barry is a close second but he had been in the league for 10 years and was still looking at JB's dust.
  15. barry sanders and tiki barber i think emmitt smith couldve had a couple more years
  16. Barry Sanders and Tiki Barber
  17. Barry Sanders for sure.... I think Walter Payton had a few more years left in him also.
  18. Barry Sanders retired too early.. I think he was in his prime when he retired.. I thought back then he can play for couple more years.. but his heart was not in fooball or with Lions so he decided to quit.. Terrell Davis forced too retired to early because of the injuries.. Robert Smith left Vikings too early because of the injury too.. .. William "The Refrigerator" Perry played only 10 years in NFL..
  19. Jim Brown....Sanders....Robert Smith, but not because of injuries. He said he wanted to walk away, not limp.....Emmit hung around too long, so did Franco, and Earl Campbell
  20. Christian Okoye, hmm... is anyone else here old enough to remember him? Also, Bo Jackson and Barry Sanders. Also, if Barry and Bo had played full carrers Emmitt would still be playin and still not be close to all-time rushing record. Sorry, I think Emmitt getting that record was more of a product of dallas having one the best all-time o-lines more so than Emmitt's own ability. If anyone wants to argue that think of what Barry Sanders, Curtis Martin, Jerome Bettis, Terrel Davis, Garrison Hearst or Thurmon Thomas would have done behind that line.
  21. Obviously Terell Davis he was so good too bad for that knee injury
