What is a unique gift for an uncle to get for his first nephew?

I am trying to come up with a unique gift idea for my friend to give his nephew. who should be born sometime this week. when we go to the hospital when he is born. They have already had a baby shower so they already have all the basics.

2. my dad got my son a football........lol and my uncle brought him a sports themed basket it was filled with bottles and bibs and different rattles a baby football and a few other items related to sports i thought it was awesome all depending on how his family is but ours is all for sports and boys hope this helps a bit good luck!
3. How about a stuffed ball (a squeaky toy), it could be the babies 1st basketball or baseball. My uncle brought my daughter her 1st stuffed basketball when she was born, it was so cute, she is 14 months old and loves it. Also, I have seen bibs at Babies-R-Us that say "If you think I'm cute, you should see my Uncle" I think those are so funny!
4. OK, you have to remember that a baby really doesn't want a great deal, however what about when they are older? When our son was born I got a cardboard box and put in it all the newspapers from the day he was born, the latest "in" toy, memorabilia from the hit films, the No.1 single and some cheap stuff that people though just might become collectable. The box is now in the loft and over the first few years we added to it - (first shoes etc). His uncle knowing this gave him a bottle of single malt whisky (18 years old), which was put in the box. He'll be given the box on his 18th birthday. (BTW, the whisky will be worth almost enough to buy him a car by that point!) Just a thought....
