What is the average age a top notch hunter show horse should retire?
I am interested in purchasing a show horse for my daughter. The horse is 13 years old, and my daughter plans to show him for two years, before going off to college. I want to know that we will be able to lease him out when she goes to school, at which time the horse will be 15, and how many "good" years I can have with him before he'll need to retire.

- He could show untill he is 20....or more horses have such a wide range of lifespans that is is hard to tell how long they can continue work....
- it is good to retire them around 17 or 18.... you should retire them at the oldest of 20 there getting old and shouldnt be worked that hard anymore to stay healthy.
