I was awarded 50% of my ex-husbadns military retirment and trying to find out if this is considered "earned income" for the purpose of EITC

- No, not for EITC, that is just income you get from working.
- No, unfortunately it isn't. Only wages, salaries, and tip qualify. I got the following from the internet: Wages, salaries, tips, commissions, and other taxable employee pay, net earnings from self-employment, gross income received as a statutory employee, and some disability payments, however benefits such as Social Security Disability Insurance, SSI, or military disability pensions are not considered earned income and thus, cannot be used to claim the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).
- No, such pensions are not earned income. They are taxable, however.
