How do legislators plan on us supporting them when they retire?
Currently we pay around 506 congressmen and senators at least $163,000.00 annually. Since lifting the congress salary freeze in 1994 that Reagan put into affect during the 1980’s, legislators have increased their own benefits and salaries at a rate far beyond minimum wage increases and what working class citizens get. Also during that time, import/export taxes were ended to open globalization that ended our jobs while allowing unmonitored goods (food, toys, equipment, etc.) to be sold to us. Retiring with 2/3rds of their salaries and unlimited health care at the expense of tax payers is going to cost the next few generations at least 82 billion dollars annually in pensions for our current legislators. If they continue to sell out American jobs, and pay farmers to not produce crops how do these legislators plan on our children supporting their greed?

- Do you mean the congressmen, senators and legislators that WE put in office, soooo...that in effect they work for US. How about we fire 'em all and get people in there to clean up this mess? I don't mean the narcissitic candidates running now. A politicians intrests have nothing to do with the betterment of his fellow citizen, so we need to find the guys we're not hearing about who actually have some sense, and put 'em to work. I know THAT will never happen, but it felt good to say it, lol.
- It's actually much worse than that. Every branch of government and sometimes each different office has its own pension plan. So Richard Nixon was collecting separate pensions for his roles as Congressman, Senator, Vice President, and President even though he resigned.
