Cool Cupcake or Cake Ideas?

My son is turning 1 this month and I'm trying to find some cool cake or cupcake ideas. Any neat suggestions out there?

  1. I always think its cute when people bake cupcakes in ice cream cones and then decorate the top like its a cone with sprinkles. especially for a summer themed birthday where it would be just way too messy to give the kids real cones..
  2. You can always make a truck cake. You bake the cake in a large pan, and cut it out in the shape of a truck, the decorate it like a truck.. You could bake a round cake ( always my favorite) and use sprinkles to make shapes on top, by cutting shapes out on paper, placing paper on cake lightly and sprinkle on paper. When removing you have a shape, just repeat as many times as you would like. Also you can cover sugar cookies with icing, and sprinkle different color sprinkles on the coookies, and place on the sides.. You can do so much with a round cake. Have fun!! Be creative, use toys he can have later and put those on top. Whatever, you'r in control.
