Need cake decorating ideas - for musician?
My son will turn 18 on Dec. 24th. He is a drummer in a band. Does anyone have ideas on how to make small drum set on his cake - Like a large marshmallow for the bass drum, nilla wafers on a small dowel for the cymbals, etc. Any one ever made one?

- Have you looked at http://www.wilton.com ? they used to have a little drum set. How about a layer cake with poured fondant or rolled fondant. Trim the sides like his drum sitting on bottom rather than on side? You can use the shoestring licorice for the tightening strings? or you can pipe them on. a couple of dowels with marshmallows on them for the buffered sticks? then in the center you can write your message?
- Why not actually make the entire cake look like a drum set....use two round (2 layers each) cakes and use the nilla wafers, etc. to decorate them to make them look like drums. You can then use wooden skewers for the drum sticks.
