- Lazzeri is a Hall of Famer who got elected by the Veteran's Committee in 1991, many years after his death. He played 11 years for the Yankees and won five World Series with them. He was a one time All Star who had impressive career overall numbers, but had the (mis)fortune of playing among Yankees great who greatly overshadowed him. Career stats: Avg. .292 HR 178 RBI 1191 SB 148 This was over a twelve and a half year career. So to answer the question, I think Lazzeri has a respected spot in Yankee history, but played among so many great players and on so many great teams, his accomplishment go overlooked. Incidentally, Lazzeri still holds the record for most RBI in a game with 11.
