How well can a retired man live on 70,000 pesos a month in the philippines?

- If you are single, I would say 70,000 is pretty good for an annual income. Of course that depends on the type of lfestyle that you have. But all in all, that's pretty good. Here's a bloated breakdown: Rent for a decent house in city - 20,000 Electricity bills - 4,000 Water - 1,000 Above average food (Dining out) - 15,000 (150 per meal x 3 meals per day) Cable, Internet Phone and Mobile Phone Bills - 5,000 Transportation just to go around - 5,000 Shopping money - 10,000 (you can buy clothes every month) Emergency money - 10,000 (save it or use it to pay for insurance or medical if you don't spend it)
- I know plenty of people there living on that. They are already established and have a routine. If your planning to start buying up cars and beach lots and screwing everything that walks, you might need a lot more. If you live a conservative lifestyle, that amount will do you ok. That will still qualify you as "rich" to the locals and everybody will want to borrow money. Just act poor. You money will also go much farther if you live in the province area away from the big cities and malls. A lot also depends on your wife's and/or girlfriend spending habits. Now that could run you a million or more every month if you let it.
- It depends on how you live. I think its a really tight budget. My modest apartment (2BR) in Manila cost that much a month to run (rent & utilities). You can certainly live on it, but the word "well" wouldn't really fit. That's only like €1,000. You could easily blow through that in a good weekend without doing too much.
- Hi there! 70000 is plenty to live in the Province.I have Guests staying in my Beach resort in Marinduque spending abouth 50000 Month icluding Food and Drinks.www.clubcagpo.tk
- thats a lot.. but that depends on the lifestyle youre in.but, 70, ooo is enough
- it depends on your spending habits. but if you spend it wisely,it will go a long way.
- -live simply and you are already reached on that kind of money. spend it wisely though. YOu can live very well with that kind of money better if you are in the US.
- Paupers will find that amount to be great wealth. But those who live better lives now will dread the day when all they have is P70,000 a month. You need to define the standard of living you are accustomed to. It will be too difficult to adjust down in your twilight years, when you should be enjoying life more than worrying about where to get money for hospital bills. I would say that if you live in a city in a first-world country, moving here with a P70,000 budget per month will cause you pain. You definitely need much more than that to keep up with the lifestyle you have been used to.
- if you been in the military and have lived off base over seas then you are used to adapting to local standards and then I would say yes it is enough outside of manila. If you never lived on the economy overseas then you may have trouble adapting. Manila is high priced and not really a good place to retire. if you need what Manila offers then stay where you are. I am living in Subic bay and would say I spend below that on the average month. I have a small but reasonable size one bedroom apartment ( small by our standards but good for a Filipino family of 4) reminds me of a "bachelor" pad i had when younger, i pay 5,000 a month for it.it is almost identical to an apartment i rented in Germany in 1996 and i paid $400 a month for that. i think most of the retirees here are getting larger places at around 10,000. however modern "western"style homes in a subdivision can be your entire budget. i am not a heavy air condition type person but do run my computer around the clock, monthly electric around 2,000, cable about 60 channels with all international news, sports and movie channels about 650. i buy my dinner from the street vendors about 3 times a week at a cost of 35 pesos a meal, cook dinner for my self at twice a week at a cost of 200 pesos a meal. My dinners out average about 300. i eat lunch out about 4 times a week average of 150 pesos. not a big breakfast eater maybe toast or fruit. a evening out with a friend having dinner and drinks at a club with live music may be 1,000 ( no ladies drinks or bar fines). Can go shoot pool or play darts beer cost about 50 pesos soft drinks about 40 and local mix drinks start about 50. i use public transportation, If i stay in the city area tops out at 50 pesos a day. movie ticket is 120 pesos. i scuba dive thats about 1,000 a dive on great wrecks and reefs. live 50 meters from a beach and if i walk a kilometer in the other direction i can head into the hills. i may be different from most of the expats living here, I do not keep myself tied to just the expats, most of my friends are Filipinos from a varied of lifestyles, from students, factory workers to corporate executives. come over visit the areas you are interested in and look at apartments or homes, eat the local foods and meet the local people. if you are a church goer check out the local churches.
