2. NY is pretty expensive. You would have to consider the transportation cost (car, or Subway). You would have to consider groceries, utilities, and personal expenses. Save enough for a few months rent, and have extra. It is always good to have backup cash. Also, getting a roommate might help. Instead of paying 1300 for a studio apartment, try renting "a room" or splitting rent with someone. NY is costly, be prepared to use money.
