retirement oz

Who thinks Chuck Liddell should retire? Who thinks he should keep fighting? Why?

He has lost alot of fights recently. Do you think he would win more if he moved to a different weight class?

  1. Retire,and coach
  2. shut up man i like chuck lol nah i think he's fine he doesn't need to retire
  3. Chuck should learn how to properly box. The reason why he got the KO's from Jackson and Haymaker Evans was because Chuckies hands were down. If his hands were up, those punches would not have been effective. If Chuckie had some proper boxing training he would've learned first, his stance is not proper, secondly, his hands should have been up all the time, and thirdly, not to throw punches in which he over-extends himself. Chuck needs to bring in Emanuel Steward of Freddie Roach for a few months, and to improve his stand-up, and NOT rely on his hands as much.. and certainly not press the fight because his footwork, and he is slower, therefore he must become the counter puncher. And NO WAY should Chuck retire. He is two- four victories away from another title shot. (Lyoto-the brazilian, the winner of the Jackson-Wanderlei) and batta boo, batta bing title shot. Chuck is still a reckon machine, but drops his hands and leaves himself wide open. This is called, lazy, and stocking up on 1 punch
  4. Liddell doesn't have to retire yet, but he needs to change a few things. Even when he won the belt I knew his time was limited due to age and an effective but one-dimensional style. One thing he could do without really changing anything is to switch up his fighting style. We saw in the Silva fight that he could mix up his strikes with kicks and takedowns. Personally I think he could turn into a pretty good ground-and-pound style fighter if he started to use his wrestling more. But his most recent losses have come because he's looking for that one, big shot. Everyone knows he's looking to fire that overhand right, and guys like Jardine and Evans didn't let him set up that shot. If he started to mix things up by throwing some good, stiff jabs, and mixing some kicks and takedowns in there, he'd be more unpredictable. Alternately, he could start working on his basic boxing. One of the reasons he's been floored in recent fights is that he's actually a very sloppy striker. He keeps his hands down, doesn't set things up with the jab, and doesn't throw combinations unless he's got the other guy hurt. Send him to a good boxing coach who won't let him get away with being sloppy. Also have him work some BJJ constantly, get better at guard passes and sub defense and use his takedowns more. The only problem with this is that he's almost 40 years old, and unlike Couture hasn't really picked up any new tricks over the years; it's unlikely he'll begin now. If he were to move in weight, it would only be up. He walks around at 220lbs or more, and he's not about to cut to 185lbs. I think he'd actually do alright at HW. I'd pick him to beat Nogueira by decission. He'd be able to stop his takedowns and probably knock him down a couple of times to win on the scorecards. The only problem with this is that he might start to neglect his cardio since he wouldn't be cutting weight, and as fighters typically move up in weight their ability to score knockouts starts to drop. But I think that if he isn't willing to learn any new tricks or switch up his style, this is probably the best option for him. He's Dana White's buddy, so he'll be in the UFC for a while, but I can't see him fighting there three years from now unless something changes dramatically.
  5. Retire no, one dimensional maybe and should think about changing things up a bit.He is getting up in age now and slowing down you have seen and heard that chuck has a great wrestling background which he has always used for a defense but maybe now he should consider using some of his wrestling skill to take people down and work some ground a pound some so that he is mixing it up and can keep em guessing a little and have to worry about a take down
  6. it is said he is fighting randy coutoure in germany next year
  7. I think he should keep fighting because he is too young to retire plus the reason why he lost his fights is because he made mistakes
