Can you get unemployment benefits in California and also get Social Security benefits at retirement age?

1. Yes, these are two different things. You pay SS when you work, they automatically deduct it from paycheck, so when you retire, you get them from government. Unemployment is when you are laid off, company out of business, etc. but not if you quit on your own or fired.
2. When collecting unemployment you must report all other sources of income.
3. U cant get both! If you are getting unemployment benefits, meaning u got laid off right like the other person said. with the retirement u only get it when u been paying taxes when u were working. by the way its true u get unemployment benefits if u get laid off not fired, however its only good for a period of time, u will need to start looking for a job too. its not forever.
