- he'll be back.
- Maybe his son committing suicide took the starch out of him. I know it would do that to me.
- If you were a president, you'd be babraham lincoln!
- He is still upset with Bill Polian for drafting Peyton Manning over Ryan Leaf
- i don't know. i wish he wasn't. I guess he feels maybe he's done all he can and probably want's to spend time with his family.
- Working the long hours at the fast pace of an NFL coach can be wearing, he needs time for himself and his family.
- He's been contemplating retirement since the death of his son.
- yeah he has a very young family and they have been living in tampa while he stays here in indy. he also has said in local interviews that football is not all he wants to do. he has plans for setting up a charity in his son's name and he wants to be highly involved in it. i think the interview is on youtube. he did the interview with wrtv 6.
- He has many other things he would like to do with his life, including spending more time in his family and counseling folks who've run afoul of the law. I think he'll be an outstanding motivational speaker.
- It is because of his family and what he feels God wants him to do. He is very close to God and told the media he would take a week to talk to his family, the colts organization and God about his decision. He wants to see his son who lives in tampa play his senior year of football and he also wants to help out the city of Indianapolis which right now is not a very safe city. He says hes never coming back but maybe when his kids are all grown he will. The colts should be fine though they have peyton manning.
- It probably is to spend more time with the family. Who knows? Only he does for sure. All I know is that he had a great 13 year run...11 playoff appearances, 67% percent of his regular season games won, and a Super Bowl victory to top it off! What more can you do as a head coach??? There's nothing else left to experience! You might think he's retiring early because he's only 53 years old, but he's already gained a lifetime worth of achievements, experiences, and great moments!
- coach dungy has been contemplating this for a few years now. he has stated that he'd like to spend more time with his family in tampa, especially after the death of his son. he also wants to devote time to his ministries/charities. a classy coach who will be missed, i believe he will be back after a couple of years. and, as a colts fan, if that happens, i will say that i wish him success with whatever team he may coach in the future.
- the reason he is retiring so early is because he is living in Indianapolis. His family is still living in Tampa. It is really hard for him he has to travel all the time just to see his family. He is retiring so he can spend some time with his family.
- I think if he did not lose his son, he might still be coaching. I think losing a family member puts things into perspective. He's done a great job, and he is getting out of the game while he is near the top. I wouldn't surprised to see him return, but taking a break does wonders for any career.
