How much money does an energy bulb really save?

My bf will leave a tv on when he leaves the house. Yet he complains that I want to use Full spectrum lights instead of energy saver light bulbs (because of the energy bill). He says, idiotic hair pulling things like "you'll see when our bill comes" Can someone please, please, give my some facts. So I can show him how ridicules he's being? -Like how much energy a (non flat screen, no hd) tv uses compared to a light bulb. & How little money, energy savers bulbs really save per month. (Some day I'd like to switch to L.E.D. when the technology is possible/mainstream. I do actually care about the environment, plus Energy savers contain mercury) Currently I've been trying to look up info on FML, because it produces the white light that I like. *The Energy Saver Bulbs he wants to use are those coil ones. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.lighthousesupply.com/ProductImages/CF-SPIRAL.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.lighthousesupply.com/EnergySavingLightBulbs.html&h=300&w=271&sz=8&tbnid=Rq4jrSu8VtkZZM::&tbnh=116&tbnw=105&prev=/images%3Fq%3Denergy%2Bsaving%2Blightbulbs&usg=__fGC4mYxyaaJ8S7BcFID9HqTHHQk=&sa=X&oi=image_result&resnum=6&ct=image&cd=1

  1. LED lights save 98% more energy
  2. They only use about one sixth the energy. So if you turned on 6 energy saver bulbs it would be the same as one 60 watt bulb
