78 Million Baby Boomers are going to retire between 2010-2018, are these jobs going to be filled?
the first major wave of baby boomers, ( those born between 1946 to 1964 ) will retire in 2010, the 2nd big wave is 2014 will their retirement lower the unemployment rate and maybe cause a labor shortage, and increase wages for younger workers?

- I doubt it. The way the economy is looking the baby boomers are not going to retire unless they have a solid retirement account (that didn't loose much or any $ on Wall St). Once these people do retire, I imagine that only 1 of 2 or 1 of 3 jobs they vacate will be filled. I doubt that their retirement will lower unemployment. I know it definitely won't cause a labor shortage or increase wages for younger people. You stated an 8 year period and basically state that almost 10 million will retire each year, and I believe that only 3-5 million of those workers will be replaced.
- Why on Earth don't people realize that this is one reason the federal government lets Mexicans come here and work. I figured this out back in the 80s when almost all the Hispanics here were legal or born here. Believe me, many baby boomers won't be able to retire at all, thanks to Bush's economic policies. I know my ex. plans to work until he dies...
