  2. OK. It depends on many factors. The reason why you have not had any answers is because you have not said where you reside or near which main city in the USA. Also one needs to know where your penfriend lives in France and how long you intend to stay. If you are on an exchange, you need to pay your fare from where you live to an airport, the flight, and for the journey to her house so it will vary. Return flights at the moment are around $500 from the USA but they change according to the time of the year. It also depends on when you decide to go and on the airline that you pick. You would be better off buying a present/ presents for the family with whom you are going to stay where you live as the dollar has dropped against the Euro. Then you need your pocket money for your needs whilst you are in France: bus fares, entries to cinema or museums, souvenirs, drinks, that sort of thing, and it also depends on how long you will be staying there. Things in France are expensive at the moment I would save at least between $800 and $1000 to make sure you have enough. You do not need to spend it all. If your visit is much longer than a week you may need more especially if you are going to Paris.
