  1. 10,000 should buy you a few months.
  2. Only you can figure that out but you start with accommodations, that is where are you going to live? Then what about work? Do you have gainful employment already figured out? Where in California do you want to live? Cost of living is always higher in the big population centers. My advice is to take a working vacation in the area that interests you. Rent a motel for a week or two and check out employment in your career field and the cost of housing. It is more sensible to do it this way then to save up some money, quit your job and move. While you are there on your vacation you can find possible contacts for employment and housing. If everything seems to be working out then go ahead make your plans.
  3. For every dollar you save for yourself, be sure to save another 30 cents for the California government. They are set to raise taxes dramatically, driving out everyone except the ultra wealthy, freeloaders, illegal immigrants, drug dealers, vagrants, and those on welfare. California is no longer a state of promise or potential. Have you heard that they will be releasing 57,000 criminals onto the streets because their jails are full? Crime rates are going to shoot up, the criminals know they will no longer get jail time because there is no room at the inn, so they get a rebuke and back on the streets. I would seriously re-consider any move to California.
