Would UVA consider me?
I've wanted to got to UVA ever since my freshmen year, but I'm not sure they'll want me because of my GPA. I took AP World Civ, AP English Lang/Comp, AP Biology, and AP English Lit/Comp. I passed Chinese SAT 2 in freshmen year so I didn't take anymore foreign language courses. My SAT score was a 2290 and my ACT was 30. I'm in the four core class honor societies, science olympiad, key club and I've volunteered for three years at a retirement home. I also play piano and clarinet (piano for ten years and clarinet for seven years). I placed fourth at states for science olympiad if that means anything. I got the Silver award for the Scholastic writing competition. My GPA is a f-ing 3.75!!!! It pisses me off, because I've worked my butt off for grades and I get all A's for most of the quarter and yet I'm always ending with a B+ in some class or another! UVA is an amazing school and I want to go so badly, but I'm not sure I can make it with my crappy GPA. I heard the lowest GPA is a 3.95. Can someone please tell me if UVA will even look at me? I don't even need to know if I can get in. I would just like to know if I at least reached their standards.

- I think you've got a reasonable shot at getting in, giving your high SAT scores, your awards and your music background (which shows dedication and persistence, two good qualities for college students). Some high schools just have tougher grading standards and you may be attending one of those schools. Good luck!
- Calm down! Everything will work out! =-) 1. My friend who had a 3.5 recently got accepted into UVA 2. It specifically states on their website that you should have no lower than a 2.9 GPA to apply and you are well over that! Congrats on such a good GPA 3.The College is not going to judge you on strictly your GPA. Their admission decision is based on all the facts not just your GPA I also want to say that if the worst does happen (and you get wait listed or a rejection letter) that there are ways to attend UVA even if it isnt in your senior year. 1. Consider UVA wise ( I call it UVA's twin) basically, it is a smaller branch of UVA with smaller classes in which ways it might be a good thing. 2. Consider a Virginia Community college. If you attend a community college and maintain your GPA then they have guaranteed acceptance into UVA after your sophomore year. (Plus you save a LOAD of money) Their website is here. www.vccs.edu I know the last two choices aren't the best but you still end up with a UVA diploma and a quality education. Best of Luck in everything you do! <3 Sarah
