retirement oz

My postman is retiring, what is a good present I could get for him?

Hes been my postman since I moved here 4 years ago. Hes retiring in March, and I want to get him a present for saying thanks for being one of the good postmen who don't go through my post etc. Any ideas? Hes 63, if that helps.

  1. What is he going to get you?
  2. A "Newman" pin.
  3. lots of people go through their working life feeling unnoticed or unappreciated. i'm sure whatever you pick will light up his day
  4. a nice pen
  5. Depnds on how much you want to splash out, but I'd get him something that will help him relax. The elder are more practical, so a good blanket, a nice sweater, a big mug... I think it'd be nice! in any case, it's the surprise that counts. He'll be chuffed anyways.
  6. If he drinks, a bottle, if he drives a lot a gas gift card, if hes married a dinner certificate for two and always a card wishing him well.
  7. a gun cause he probley got laid off and will most likly go postal up in that b---h
  8. Maybe a money box in the shape of a red postbox? I'm sure I've seen one in a mag/newspaper somewhere recently... sorry I can't remember which! *Edits* just looked on eBay - they do exist lol I've found two... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NOVELTY-RED-POST-BOX-MONEY-BOX_W0QQitemZ330305416752QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Collectables_Moneyboxes_RL?hash=item330305416752&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1700%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318
  9. Anything at all is appreciated. Its great that you've thought like this. Most postmen do a good job, work hard, suffer all conditions (and the dogs) and walk for miles each day. Most people don't realise that, although they see us with one small sack, that sack weighs up to 14kg, and it'll be one of many. There's between four and nine for each round, depending on how heavy the day is. We rarely get thanks and usually feel underappreciated by the public and the management. This means any token or gesture can brighten up the day. You could give him a card with some cash in. This will be easiest, because everyone loves cash. Its up to you for the amount, but even a small token is appreciated. Other ideas could be a bottle of something pleasant to drink, chocolates, biscuits, cakes. Go for general things that most people like, the last thing you want is to give him something he won't want. I'd also make sure you hand it to your postman in particular. You could leave something out for him, but remember that postmen get put on other rounds and have days off, so your gift might not make it to him.
