What are some interesting activities to do after retiring?
Well, my mom is retiring her job, she is really depressed and she thinks that she ain't gonna find anything to do later on. Her job was her life! She had fun with her colleagues and was so happy. I am a college student and I don't spend much time with her, dad is always at work, so definitely she would be bored. My siblings are living in another country. And we moved to another city 8 years ago cuz of dad's work, which means no relatives and no friends, also our neighbors aren't so friendly. So is there anything else she can do but watching TV and cooking?

- Why is she retiring??????????? She can get involved in charitable work! Her church. Her local hospital. American Cancer society. Salvation Army. Girl scouts. Boy scouts. YMCA. YWCA. etc. etc. etc.
- She can volunteer at an animal shelter, walking and playing with and bathing the dogs!
- WHAT? Bored??? Oh my goodness. I was so happy to finally have the last child move out of our house...so I had my freedom back! Your parents don't sound like they are Christian?? I have so many church friends- it can be like grand central station sometimes here... the phone never stops ringing. We do volunteer things at the local nursing home. We just meet for lunch and a movie. I sew. We sew for charity giving- one of our homeless shelters give each child who comes thru it, a quilt. Never can we have too many quilts! In the summer, the garden takes up a LOT of time. The grandkids take up a LOT of time, too-if I let them. When the kids moved out, we still have taken in the odd stray young adult. The unwed mother, the kid getting his life back together after rehab- whose family was a big cause of their behaviour in the first place. My goodness! There is no end to what to do. Animal shelters need volunteers all the time too. And weekend getaways with the hubby! Oh yes, older age has a lot of good things about it.
