How can I save up money for things I want to buy?

Hi, I'm an 11 year old boy and I wanted to know some helpful hints on how to save money. I have got a whole bunch on birthdays, but I got to buying video games all the time? And this year in 2009 I have gotten $36.00 and now I have $14.00. I am planning to save up for a go-kart or dirt bike. Plz help me!!!

1. wen you get ur money, put it directly into the banks ebcause then u ant spend it and banks hav interests

3. This may possibly help to reduce your temptations. Open a internet money market account as well as a local checking or saving account. When you open the internet checking account it will be linked to the local account. Now transfer all your money (except for enough money to keep the local account open) to the internet account. Since it takes several days to transfer your money from the internet account back to your local account, this generally gives people time to reconsider their purchases. For many people this can reduce the temptation to be a compulsive buyer.
4. Open an account at your local bank or better yet Credit Union, if you can. Be prepared to have a parental unit sign off on this new SAVINGS account. after doing that go out and get a few pictures from magazines of the go kart or dirt bike that you want. put those pictures where you will see them often. Go another step further if you can - paste a picture of yourself on that dirt bike or go kart. These pictures should help you focus on your goal. Good luck
