1. At some point, perhaps. But a lot of boomers are putting off retirement because their retirement savings have been substantially reduced by the financial crisis.
2. Not necessarily. Companies are relying more on part timers since they do not have to pay much in the way of benefits and pay is lower too, so they just transition to those hiring practices. Or they simply phase out the positions altogether in a cost cutting move. Today's youth are getting screwed really bad by this all.
