  1. NO!!!!! TO LET YOU KNOW; I AM ONE OF THOSE BABY BOOMERS AND I HAVE A LOT OF YEARS UNTIL RETIREMENT. PLEASE DON'T ASK QUESTIONS LIKE THIS ABOUT BABY BOOMERS. IT'S VERY INSULTING TO SOME OF US. THANK YOU! The airline industry will be no different then it is right now. Please read up on this either in the magazine articles in the library or on the internet. YOU HAVE A LOT OT LEARN!!! SORRY!
  2. Baby-Boomers were born after 1945 so, they are retireing rite now and for the next ten years.
  3. The so-called "Baby-Boomers", the largest US population spike in the 20th century, were born between 1946 and 1964. Therefore some have already retired and the last won't be retiring from the airlines until 2029. Retirements will be fairly evened out over that period and Dept. of Labor statistics indicate at most a 17% increase in the need for pilots, assuming a steady growth in the airlines over the same period. If airline growth stagnates due to the world economy continuing to be in turmoil over the next several years, that figure could be as little as 5-7%, about the proportion of major airline pilots in the USA who are projected to retire each year over the next 15 years. The expectation that there will be a sudden, huge need for airline pilots is false unless the airlines in the USA see double-digit growth for an extended period. Not likely. Internationally, the growth picture is a lot better.
