  1. get a paper route do yard work.. mowing, weeding, mulching, raking sell some of your things you no longer use.
  2. How about yard work, or house cleaning? After you get a puppy you will need to get it fixed, and get shots. Don't forget about food, and a leash. You will need to keep earning money to provide these things. Also look at the other questions readers have posted on this site. Almost all of them have to do with a sick animal. They almost always require a vet visit. Good luck.
  3. You could sell candy. When I was in high school I did that and made so much money. If you have a Sams Club card then you can make even more cash. Oh and I was in high school a few years ago so don't think I'm one of these old folks who went to school in the 80's and 90s! I'm only 22! The best candies to make money off come in backs like the 10 packs of Reeses.
  4. The only way to get enough money for a dog AND it's care (including monthly costs and saving up for emergencies) is to have an actual part time job working 20 or more hours a week at minimum wage. Depending on your age i'm guessing mom and dad said "if you can earn the money you can get one"... right? I wouldn't dismiss the possibility of them saying that because they KNOW you can't make enough money doing small things like babysitting or dog walking. Dogs are expensive. A shelter pup will be in the $100-$300 range depending on location, age, and breed. A pet quality pup from a reputable breeder will be about $600 or more. Supplies will be about $200, first vet check about $200, and monthly fees can be about $150 or so depending on where you go and if you buy in bulk or not. Emergency fees can soar over $1,000 easily. If mom and dad won't help pay then you're best off (and the pup would be best off) waiting for a time when you can get a steady, part time job. Some things you can do in the mean time would be extra chores, offering dog walking to neighbors for a small fee, car washing in the summer, a garage sale....
  5. If you do not have the money to buy a puppy, its likely you also do not have the money to keep one. Having a dog is a lifetime committment. Please think twice.
