1. Spend less than you earn.
2. Have your bank automatically take a set amount (10% of your wages) from your checking account and put it into savings. The hard part is to leave the money alone until you've met your goal. Prioritize your spending. You can't save money if you have to pay into a credit card. Dump the card(s). The interest alone will destroy your savings goals.
3. I don't know if you live near a China town or Chinese gift shop. In UK you can buy a Chinese money ' box' which has a small slot to put your cash in. The only way to open it is to smash it (when it is full) Thus you save a fair bit of money.
