  1. Maybe they have just been too burned out after so many years of putting up with all the bullshit we get from those in middle management,,, who's only job is to weed out the weak and marginal employees. Most of us have been put through so much hell from these guys that finally just wants to throw off the mental shackles and say, "Take this job and shove it, I ain't working here no more!"
  2. My ex-wife was working for a female version of Attila the Hun. The woman constantly screamed at everybody, especially the managers who were directly below her in the organization chart. There were four of them. The woman, the CEO hired a company spy who was a friend of many years. Her job was simply to snoop into everything that the managers did and she was empowered to make them stop working and come to her office to be cross-examined. Over a period of fifteen months all four managers quit. I met this CEO once. Unbelievable - she started bitching me out and I didn't work for her. I had just dropped in to take my then wife out to lunch. "What are you doing here..." My wife was there a total of 22 months - retiring wasn't an option. She had transferred there for a large raise in pay and a promise of autonomy. She got the first but not the second. She ended up with three ulcers before she finally decided to resign. What would you have done?
  3. they are probally sick and tired of what they are doing to them, maybe they treat them bad, maybe they pay low, and there sick and tired of it. so they resign in stead. hope i helped ya out!
  4. I resigned at the age of 43 which I had preplanned using mathematical technique of limit and accounting technique of discounted cash flow with a vow never to do service again in life and without any substitute arrangement. I even refused the job offers that came my way. My children were in high school and major responsibilities of life were looming large threatening the very existence of life, but I took the calculated risk and navigated my life through all odds. Now to answer your question. Service in a company does not require professional expertise as much as political expertise. A last bencher of your school can become your boss and may teach you a problem whose solution he used to learn from you in school. You have to be his yesman whether you like it or not. And even having done all that you may need to take sleeping pills in your youthful days. No wonder that large corporations collapse like the palace of cards because of total lack of appreciation of talent. The last company where I worked was among the top 10 of India and has now disappeared in thin air. A large number of talented employees left that company in a decade finally leading to its disappearance from the map of corporate world.
  5. Are you asking why people move to another company (voluntarily) rather than going through their entire career at the same company? These days the number of people who don't switch companies at least a few times in their career are a rarity. Typically, I find that there is a tipping point - a person who has been at the same company for more than 10 years would like to stay on at the same company unless the situation becomes untenable for some reason [bad boss, family problems etc]. As the length of your service with a company increases, the inertia factor increases exponentially.
  6. Hi dear ! Because by keep on working in a particular company, normally ur changes of promotion and rising high become very scarce. When u change companies or switch to a new one, u get a promotion and get reasonably high salary than what u were getting previously. And sometimes, the environment of the company and the behaviour of ur peers and highers may also become the reason for the change. But normally it is the financial aspect and the promotion that counts more towards the change of the company.
  7. There are as many reasons people choose to resign as opposed to retiring as there are people. Some reasons include; To soon to retire, and need a good reference. They are offered a severance package in return for their resignation. To preserve their sanity and peace of mind, Found a better situation at another concern and don't want to burn bridges. Family problems. Need to get a fresh start somewhere else.
