- Ask your parents to help you open a savings account at a local bank. You may need a minimum amount to open it, but after that you can make deposits whenever you want. Try starting with $2 of $3 per week. It will add up before you know it. At 2.00 per week, you'll save $104 in a year. Then you have to think twice before you take it out of the bank and spend it.
- There is no magical answer. If you want to save money, then do so. Stop wasting it on silly purchases and put it away when you get it. Keep out the amount you want to spend, and save the rest. Also, try increasing your income. Mow lawns, babysit, pull weeds, recycle cans, etc.
- You don't need your parents' help with that as suggested by others. Do some online research and find a bank in your area that offers 100% free checking. I know that 5/3 bank does... but I don't know about others. You only have to have a minimum of an initial $50 deposit (which I'm sure you have saved). Put it all into your bank account, and any time you have extra deposit it. Having a bank account makes you think twice about spending because you always have to keep track of your expenses, spending, and balances. Once you start paying for things with a card you are reluctant to buy useless things because you always have to worry about whether or not you have enough money in your account (otherwise your card gets rejected). A bank account is a great way of keeping track of your money and making sure that you're not spending more than you have to.
