retirement oz

Do I get credit for my military experience in a Govt job towards retirement?

I have 7 years prior service, could this be used as years towards retirement in a civilian government job?? How does that work? I heard someone mention selling back your military time, whatever that means??

  1. yes you can count your military service toward retirement. Go to http://www.opm.gov You will have to pay a deposit of 3% of your military income for it to count. You will have time to do that. I am a veteran and I still have to start my military deductions to count for retirement. I was in the Navy and now I work at the VA.
  2. When you finally do retire you will also get additional credit for your military service from the Social Security Administration.
