How much money should I save if I want to do a 1 week trip to California? (theme parks)?

I'm planning to drive from Washington to California... which is around 1100 miles. How much should I try to save up for this summer trip that will last about a week (hotels, food, theme parks, gas)? I might be going with some of my friends, so we can split the cost of gas and hotels.

  1. where are you traveling from?
  2. k i made the drive from LA to tri citys washington, cuz i had a soccer tournement up there. It took a fucking life time, and we thought wed leave a couple days early and see alll nocal and oregon, but theres not much there. and things are like hours away. like sacramento and san fran are complete opposite directions so we had to choose one and keep on going. and then i had to drive all the way back. I will never do that again.
  3. Gas: If your car gets 20 mpg, that's 110 gallons just to get here, and figure another 50 just going from place to place. At 2.50 per gallon, that's about $400 in gas. Hotels are about $140 per night in summer, so that's about $1000 (which includes a room tax, that most people forget about). I always allow $50 per person per day for food, so that's $350 per person form meals. Theme park costs will vary, depending on which theme parks you go to , how long you go, etc. I would get a CityPass, for $259, that lets you go to Disneyland Resort (3 days), Universal, Sea World, and San Diego Zoo. Definitely figure on some souvenir money as well as incidentals.
  4. im going for 10 days && im bringing about $1200. gas depends on the price at the time. hotels again depends on what kinds of deals you can find online.. try calling around too for the best prices available at each hotel. i would def get your tickets in advace online. you can usually save a good amount of money that way! food is easy, you can eat out at a nice place a few times && then go to fastfood types// grocery store and make sandwiches. i'd say maybe $20-40 per nice meal? maybe $5-10 fast food? have fun!
